STREME-ING Into Inspiring FGCU Graduate Students

Work consumes our days and at Comprehensive Logistics (CLI) we don’t let that get in the way of inspiring graduate students from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU).

Months before Hurricane Ian devastated Florida’s Gulf Coast, Kathleen and Robert sent an email requesting an in-person meeting with a knowledgeable systems employee and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to share insight for their fall term business case paper at FGCU. The students are in the research and interview phase of their project.

Little did they know they picked the right company that would impact their career development. Enter extremely experienced and knowledgeable Steve Olender, VP of IT and known as the mastermind behind our Warehouse Management System (WMS) proprietary enterprise resource planning (ERP) program we call STREMETM.

Although the first meeting was disrupted by Ian it happened on Friday, October 14, 2022.

The meeting took place in our corporate boardroom in Bonita Springs close to FGCU. A large screen shows our ERP STREME details of a real-time workflow of one of our customer’s parts flowing from a Tier 1 to a CLI dedicated warehouse and ultimately to the end-user, the OEM assembly plant located a short shuttle transport run away.

Here’s a glimpse into how our expert Steve shared his knowledge to inspire, educate and impact graduation students Kathleen and Robert.

Steve shares, “With STREME in place our customers gain access to item-level details and complete transparency into intricate, real-time logistics processes for any commodity or service. We’re using technology to share a robust intelligent view of our client warehouses through portable devices like your phone in real-time with CLI‘s priority innovative supply chain application—STREME. As an enterprise resource planning tool, STREME changes and is modified to mirror our customer’s objectives and brings complete visibility into inbound material flow and transportation to their plants.”

Steve Olender, VP of Information Technology, and founding lead of STREME shares his views on “A Holistic View of Warehouse Management” in Logistics Tech Outlook.

After the meeting, Kathleen & Bob emailed, “Huge thank you. The interview was better than we could have expected. You have set our standard on how logistics should run. Your IT and process development is exactly what we wanted to make a COT ERP versus a custom ERP argument. Your explanations of the automotive industry’s “needs” and how you have devised a system to meet that need will be in my thoughts for quite some time.”

At the end of the day, we are all busy balancing our work and personal schedules. It’s great to take time to share CLI’s business experience and knowledge by connecting with people to raise insight which ultimately inspires our future workforce’s view into logistics and supply chain careers.
