Vendor Managed Inventory
Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is a supply model where the vendor takes the responsibility of ensuring product availability based on manufacturers demand and forecasted needs. These programs are governed through mutually agreed upon parameters such as minimum inventory levels, EOQs, fill rates, services levels, and costs.
Comprehensive Logistics provides VMI services within its facilities through its integrated systems. CLI monitors the orders and the demand forecast along with the current inventory levels to create the replenishment orders back to the vendor. To ensure service level commitments, CLI’s systems consider:
- Safety stock levels and commitments
- Demand forecasts
- Production lead times
- Supply chain lead times and delivery variables
- Unit level replenishment costs
Benefits of Comprehensive’s VMI program include:
- Reduction in total supply chain cost
- Improved product visibility
- Lower inventory cost
- Improved service levels to end customer
