Change Management: Where it all begins
Whether the source is external, such as a customer RFQ or a scope change, or internal, such as corrective action required to irreversibly eliminate a non-conformance, an agile change management process is required.
Comprehensive Logistics addresses this requirement through an omnibus, centralized change management process under the management of our Advanced Quality Planning group. As each change is documented, submitted and registered in our database, our AQP team performs the following:
- Analyzes the change request for feasibility
- Determines which processes may be affected by the change and how they may vary from other processes under our management control
- Meticulously engineers, or re-engineers the process being changed using a multi-disciplinary team
- Updates and logs the control documents
- Calculates the cost impact.
As part of this engineering development, we consult our own in-house library of processes to ensure that all existing proven methods and technologies are fully leveraged to the benefit of the customer each time a change occurs. This ensures that, without exception, the leanest, most synchronous and most capable process will be deployed in favor of the customer. CLI’s processes have evolved over millions of processing cycles in the most stringent of 3PL environments. As a result, our engineered processes and cutting-edge technology are so advanced that we rarely encounter customer requirements for which we do not already have a solution and accompanying process.
Where new elements may occur, these are usually customer-specific variants affecting only selected individual steps within a large process. If necessary, we will modify an existing process, in effect creating a new variant to our core processes.
Once a new process is developed it is archived in our library of processes to be utilized in other operations where applicable. O ur solutions are constantly tested, measured and improved using the fundamentals of quality management developed by W. Edwards Deming.
We like to say that our approach is both revolutionary and evolutionary. After so many revolutions of our continuous improvement cycle, our processes require very little modification. Yet when change occurs, they cause our process to evolve and become more capable. Our current and new customers benefit from our discipline and attention to perfecting our core master processes.
Process Improvement is a constant at Comprehensive Logistics, and it is the central pillar of our culture. We not only stand behind our tried and true processes, we live and breathe our processes. They speak to us.
Working collaboratively with you during the planning process, we address your product's unique Key Control and Key Product Characteristics (KCC's & KPC’s), as well your company Key Performance Indicators and integrate these with our perfected process capabilities. The result is an error-free, flexible, replicable solution adding value to your product, improving your bottom line, and ensuring success of your business.
The result is that communication surrounding the processes is based on documented fact and metrics, and problem-solving and continuous improvement become ways to bring our two companies together in the constant search for the most-capable, lowest-cost process.
